I saw this and I felt understood.
My art creation process doesn’t begin only when I enter the studio. For me, there’s no dichotomy between art-making and living. When I draw, paint, or write, a part of me, or at times, the entire person is poured into the piece. That’s why sometimes creating art is as fulfilling as it’s exhausting.
Having said that, it doesn’t mean that art-making time comes willy-nilly. I don’t only step into the studio when I’m struck by inspiration. As with an athlete or a pianist, it’s work, it’s training, it’s practice. And I need to show up. I plan my studio-time, balancing it with writing pieces like these to you, navigating the landmine of Instagram-scroll (🤯 kaboom, bye brain cells) while sharing my art, and other bits of life.
For those of you who understood this and have supported my work through your purchase or your subscription, or reading my writings and replying, thank you so much.
On that note, I have a new art series. It’s called Point A to B, a series of 16 small originals, about the different paths of life for each of us. Here’s a preview.
The paintings are completed with words in my heart, some inspired by Scripture, to encourage us as we go along the winding twists and turns of life. This time, I won’t be making prints with this series.
It will be ready for release on 15 July 2025. If it sounds like this something you might be interested in, please click here to indicate your interest. Doing so doesn’t form a commitment or obligation to purchase. It’s kinda like a show of hands for me to prepare a special incentive for you if you eventually purchase the paintings.
Thanks for reading. More details to come.
