"Disenfranchised grief is the name for grief that isn’t acknowledged."
That is so good to know. Obviously applies not just with the current pandemic time but all those years that we have invalidated our feelings; sadness, vulnerability, hurt, anger, failures, etc... all because we have kind of been conditioned to compare ourselves with those who are in tougher situations than we do.
Thank you Mel, for the good read and the realisation that came with it today!😊
Dear Chris, yeah, either we do it to ourselves or we do it to others. Happy to know it struck a chord with you. Do read the article I’ve linked too, it goes more in depth on this type of grief and also there are stories on how different people suffer losses during the pandemic.
What a reminder to slow down and to acknowledge little moments of grief in life - and that's totally fine. I've also find it helpful to channel my energy to help those in need during this pandemic and look to God in prayer for the losses of many that I can only observe from afar. May all find comfort and hope in this difficult period. <3
Hi Deborah, lovely to read your note. Yes, I resonate with shifting the focus to helping those in need. For me, if I kept looking at what I don't have, I will become more fretful. Let's continue to pray.
