Não sei.
I don’t know
could be the answer
to the answer you are
looking for.

When I contemplated not doing my yearly review (for 2023), I’m glad I did it after all. As I look ahead to the year, my heart tells me, “You know what? I don’t know. I no longer know. What do I know?”

Life has thrown multiple curve balls. And I’ve also been jumping ahead of God in many things, tiring myself out but bearing no fruit. So, I'm doing something new this year (and beyond).

I want to let go of what I think I know.

I want to be open to what God is doing and will do in my life—be it my art, family, my heart….everything. Far from not planning anything or having directions, it’s closer to “You know what, God? I don’t know more than You know.”

My not knowing builds trust [in the One who’s all-knowing].
So. Não sei. Não sei¹.

The Paradox of Knowledge

The more I say I don’t know
The more I know.
The more I say I know
The more I don’t know.

“Não sei/I don’t know'“ flows into when I create a piece of abstract watercolour painting. I can plan the colours so that they sing in harmony, and I can have some ideas for the piece, but when the brushes and my heart hit the paper, I don’t know exactly how the final piece will turn out. This is a form of me learning to let go too.
